A Cute Little Thing

I got busy today and decided I was going to sew this tote up. I go to a couple of retreats and this is a handy gadget. I love the fabrics. Took a little time marking all the lines and etc. But all in all it came out better than I expected. A friend in yahoo group JUJU sent the picture of it and the web site it was on. Well I checked around and thought I want one of those. I ordered my pattern and then I found the neat fabric in Shiloh at a shop called  Country Fabrics. When you open it up it is then your pressing pad. Nowe how cool is that? You can also put your hot iron it  and it is not suppose to  burn. I will let you know on that. Also today I was summoned to the neighbor's house, Heather, she was sewing a test piece and the threads got jammed so I went to see what had happened. I got them out and we checked everything again  and rethreaded it then sewed a test strip works great. I then helped her by pinning squares on so she could sew. She is getting pretty fast. I hope the next time I can set up the video camera and film  her in action. Then I can post that little movie of her working away. she is loving the sewing and says the time goes by so fast. Love it when they are excited over the creations they are making. Well here is the photo of my little Iron caddy pad. so cute!!

A Great Little Find

Went to donate a few a things to the Goodwill the other day. Decided to go in and see what they had in the sewing things sometimes I get zippers and trims. Well there she sat calling to me. I had plugged it in and it did not work but I tried another outlet and still she did not purr. I asked if it does not work could it be brought back?, yes just keep your receipt and you have 7 days. Well for the $4.59 I said ring her out. I brought it home and the needle was broke so I checked to be sure it was not stuck in the bobbin , then put a new one in. I threaded it up and filled a bobbin and tried again to get it to work. I did get a little engine noise and couple stitches. I kept pushing on the foot pedal and finally I found the area that needed to be push it works great! Here is MS Jan as I call her. I am sure one of my grands will want to sew on it soon. Well worth my $ and a pittance at that! check her out she also does zig zag stitches and straight stitches. what a deal!

Neighbor

She has a lot to smile about look at her quilt!!
Wanted to share with you all a quilt top my neighbor made. Her name is Heather. She is paralyzed from chest down. We went shopping a couple weeks ago and she bought this new Bernina 380 sewing machine. Now they make the machines so you can just push a button and it sews meaning you no longer have to use the foot pedal or the knee control. It has a slow speed and that  is the reason we  decided to get it. She loves it!! This is the first thing she has made on it  as far a big goes. We did sew some on another machine made by Viking but she preferred the Bernina. I am telling you she amazes me with what she can do.  Took her shopping for the fabric last week. She decided on a Tonga Treats in teals and greens. It is beautiful!! She did fantastic job of sewing it together.I hope to get her on a video soon and post it so you all can see what she does She has very limited use of hands. Her fingers are just there they do not grip or able to pick up so it is challenging for her. Here is her beautiful quilt top and a photo  of her with it draped in front of her. way to go Heather!!!

First Time NEORQG

Today I attended my first ever meeting. I want to say I was very impressed with the organization and all the guilds . That is one great bunch of people. We had 4 members attend. They served us some breakfast food  then on to the meeting   had a challenge vote, show and tell and great speaker, Mary Huey. They served us lunch as well. The food was very good. Several guilds were there, and some did not make it. I plan on returning again  in June. The meeting places change from area to area which is nice. Gives everyone a chance to see other parts of north east Ohio. I did not take a camera so have no photos to share. Just a good time  for us all.
