Heart surgery

Hello been a long couple of weeks I went to the hospital on October 19 they did a triple bypass. .I was in ICU for 4days then moved to a new floor where I spent another 5 days. I was release from Akron General on the 28th of October.
I am slowly  dropping meds.  I hope soon to be on just a couple .They have dropped 5  already.
I have no real pain to speak of some swelling my leg  from the vein they used to make the bypass with. I am slowly losing the black and blue or bruises. My incision looks great  so they tell me. .There was talk of repairing the aorta but after seeing  it decided it was not all that bad so if it ain't broke do fix it. I am so thankful to be home and on the mend. I am able to go up stairs and down but it is very slow for me at this time. My sewing is in my basement so I was able to go down and see the mess I had left. But I brought some hand work up when I came back to main floor. Some embroidery I had started a couple years ago a cute Lesley Boost pattern  A Christmas banner . I got it finished . I hope to hang it in front of the fireplace. such a cute project. I plan to find my  cover buttons and make 6 covered buttons to sew in between the squares. But I might also use snowflakes buttons instead.
I will get the picture upload and posted soon. In the mean while I am happy to be alive and home once again!!

Happy Dance

So Happy  yesterday I finally got the 4 panels sewn to make a coat for my Grand daughter Arsema.
She likes purple and is turning 7 this month.  I have sewn somethings twice and had to remove and flip it around so I feel like i have sewn the panels 2 times LOL  I was trying to keep the same fabric away from its self.,hard to do some times But I am delighted with the colors and  will now get to do the quilting on hers. I have a second set to sew for the sister Sarah. She will be 6 in November.
They will be coming here  to spend the summer with their daddy and I. I will send the coats home with them at that time. I think they will be here from end of June to late august.
I guess I will get the other 3 pink ones sewn  soon.
Tata for now

Afternoon All,
Today is kitchen day. I have cleaned the fridge side of  the refrigerator and now to the freezer side . It is amazing what a person can find in there.
It needs it, so raining and turning cold now . Why not do it now so when the sun does come for a visit I will be able to go outdoors and enjoy it! On Monday I did the carpet in the kitchen, because hubby spilled a whole bottle of root beer on the floor so why not .
I have been sewing on coat panels for my grand daughters as well. Plus got my guild sewing finished for the next meeting.  I feel like I am doing  good.
No pictures today  maybe tomorrow I will post a few, in the mean time have to get to  the freezer and clean it out .
Tata for now .

A New year 2018 day 2

Well It is cold every where in the states! The big Chill is on. I am doing what everyone seems to be doing  organizing and putting Christmas away. most of that part is done. I want to straighten up my sewing  room . Seems that is the thing to do each January. .LOL I have several things I want to finish this year  and lots planned to do as well. anyway I am going to try to thin things out again maybe this is the year it will get completed! The year of the rooster so I might get to do the big CROW  over the  thinning out stuff. Wish me luck!
So I do not make resolutions never have.  I have printed out a  UFO  planner to list 12 things to work on . One new one each month. I am so fickle when it comes to my sewing  but then I can stay with things I absolutely want  to use. so like most  quilters I do think.
I am working on a couple kids spring coats for my grand daughters . I am using Gail Abeloe Heart Warming jacket for kids to make them. One is going to be rich Purples  and the other will be a bright pink raspberry. . I sew some things for them easy of course..
Well worked yesterday on decorations and storing them back in their place ,today is go through some other boxes and reward myself with a little sewing tonight.
stay warm all
Patty

Pictureless Turkey Day greetings

Thanksgiving is winding down. I had some family over some are missing due to  health reasons and others not up to so much talking. But for those who came we enjoyed the afternoon and good food. We did miss the guys and even some of the grand kids are out of state so felt  a bit empty.
The dishes are all done and put away. yay!! that helps . my hands are feeling the effects of the water and dish soap splitting  on the edges of the nails boy they hurt!

Hope you all enjoyed the  day and had a some memories made. The weather has been good for us too.  take care all and enjoy your  shopping if you do that  I prefer to stay home  but will venture to JA's tomorrow morning for a couple things!

Need to get Back on Track

Morning and please bare with me  until I can get back on schedule. I love to read the blogs still and yes Instagram  and Pinterest have taken a lot  away from the blogland. I will stay here a while longer.

I have lots of things I need to finish  and some need to be quilted. I just enjoy the process of making the quilts. Choosing colors and textures and planning it all out to the  quilting and the finale binding and labels.
I started this journey back in September of 1977 with my sister Billie. We took a class in Southgate MI. at the local high school. I have my first block  I will dig it out and post a photo of it. mind you I did not choose the color or fabrics. It was what I was given.  My sister and I  did sew clothes in the beginning but I have stayed with the quilt making .It is a true passion I guess. I was 33 years of age when I began this  trip! I have learned so much and it excites me  yet. Love to watch it all come together.  Figure out the problems and draft up sizes and etc. So this is a great hobby for me.  I know my hubby is happy for me  but he does not  get too thrilled over the new quilts LOL You know most say seen one quilt you seen them all. Not true!! They are all different even when using the same pattern and the same fabrics, not the same  but similar. I am hoping to get some finishes this year! I will post pics as they are finished   should be a fun year. I did do some things at the end of this past year. I have some photos  I will put on here sometime soon.  In the meantime  enjoy your day and get in some sewing time or crafting whatever your hobby is.
Until next time

Hello once again I am getting more lazy. But truly I am here. I have been sewing on a  quilt  by Red Crinoline called Fall Mystery. So far they have posted 6 blocks it comes out every week. the blocks are small  and so pretty. her directions are wonderful! and the blocks come out near perfect in the size depends on your personal sewing LOL  they are to be 6 1/1 inch unfinished and mine are all really good in size. Here is a photo of the first 5 and I think there is 3 more to make then we  sew them together to make a small quilt or a table topper   will be a very nice one. I am really liking smaller things these days.

Howdy Howdy, been making jams and trying some new recipes this past week. Today I used some of my frozen peaches from last season and made Jam. I tasted it  is delicious.
Made some cabbage soup  called unstuffed cabbage, LOL had some cumin and crushed red pepper but it is tasty to me I like it. Then next was a peach upside down coffee cake. It was wonderful and the recipe made 2  cake. Plus I have made a batch of strawberry jam red raspberry 2 batches and black raspberry one  then 2 black berry and  the last is the peach. next will be some apple butter!!
I love to make the jams . Oh and least I forget I made a blackberry cake. just cooking away it seemed last couple weeks!
No we do not eat all the jam as i give as gifts at the  holiday season time. along with fudge  cookies and etc.
