Great Day

Had great day today. Did some sewing . I have made a new outfit for Arsema. A very cute wrap dress by www.favoritethings.net It will be cute on her when the weather warms up. She is turning 1 year old soon,March 14th. My how this year has gone by so quickly.Her dad told me tonight she said Bye bye to him as he left for work today.So she is beginning to say words. Tomorrow is Saturday, hubby will go out to breakfast with the buddy of his. I will sleep in.Then get up and do the chores for me ,Might get in some grocery shopping tomorrow. My eyes are very tired and I need to get some rest.. In the meantime here is a picture or two of the cute outfit. I still need to put the waist elastic in . I have to buy it as I do not have the size even close the one I need. This dress is reversible and so is the hat. have a great evening and will chat again real soon thanks for coming by my place today. I so enjoy the company!

A Rustic Retreat

Started a new quilt for my daughter, Michelle. It is called Rustic Retreat. I did not have the panel they used but I did have some fabric with an all over print of her favorite animal the MOOSE.

So I used it in place of the panel. I fussy cut the squares and tonight I began sewing the other blocks in the quilt. There are stars and bear paw blocks. I have 5-6 of the stars made and one lonely bear paw in blue. I am posting the picture of the moose blocks and the pattern and then I will post what I got sewn tonight. So for the beginning here is the sewing I was able to do last night. The quilt behind it is one I made last year or two years ago but only finished sewing the top together this past weekend. It is called Arrowhead and came out of a magazine I had . the two blocks on the far side are birthday blocks from a yahoo group I am in. I received two more of them today.

the picture below is the sewing I got done tonight. It shows one of the star blocks and then the quilt top as it is progressing. I have sewn one blue bear paw and there are 4 of them plus 8 green bear blocks to make yet. Anyway I am thrilled over it. Daughter came by tonight and she likes it! I was almost certain she would. Snow is still coming down and we are going to get socked oh well we had a warm and friendly winter up until now HA HA. Stay warm all and thank you so very much for stopping by today . weekend sewing

Well I was able to get the top sewn together for the my Arrowhead. I like it. Then I was playing with the twister ruler and made the heart. I messed around with a couple small quilts but will post a photo of them tomorrow or Tuesday. In the meantime here is the two I have sewn . Arrowhead and heart twist.

Barprons

I have been sewing for my grand daughter Arsema. I have made so far 4 baprons and have 2 more to make for her. I got them from here. A great tutorial. I like the puppy one tis for valentine day. I hope to make the other 2 and get them in the mail to her tomorrow.by 4 P M.
Turning colder here and possible snow this weekend. yuck. But hey I guess we can not really complain have had a very mild winter. I am off for now and back again soon with more of what I am doing.

Take your time and sew slow checking the binding. I did not have a lot of trouble. Here are pictures of the 4 I have made and I have at least 2 more to sew up. such fun!!

Valentine finish

Well started this a week or so ago I wanted it done before February. I surprised myself. I do like it a lot. The sea grass green teapot is a gift from my neighbor a Fiesta brand I love those dishes!

I am off on another project now making some small doll bed quilts. When i get one done I will be posting a photo for you to see. I am having some fun with the sewing for a change! Thanks for stopping by

Better Late than not at all.This time went by so fast, and I had such a fun time during the month of December. Lots of sewing and parties and baking and cooking and mainly family time.
Well I have been surfing the net and seen there is going to be some nice BOM coming up. I had set out to do the planet patchwork mystery on new years day , I just did not get to sew that day. I did manage to save all the clues so I will make it very soon.With Valentines fast approaching maybe some fabric with hearts on it would be nice for the mystery. Have any of you done the new years day mystery before? I have participated on it several times and have always liked the end result. so maybe next year you should try it.
I hope to stay on top of the sewing this year . So much I want to do and I hope to get a good portion of it finished.I will be updating the blog and posting some of the blogs I follow and a few of the BOM. I am going to try to do the one with Sentimental Stitches called It Takes Two done in reds and whites should be an awesome quilt. Then there is one called Hello Sun, then the mini BOM so I am off to a good start on starting and lets see if I can stay up with them. I will put links on here for them so come tomorrow to check them all out. I am doing a Valentine one from the book Celebrating Quilting from Fons and Porter it is embroidery and applique a small table topper soon to get the applique done.

Well dear daughter and friend Sandy came over today and we baked cookies. there is still more to make. We also watched the last of the X Factor. I was routing for Josh. But any one of the three left would be great! Look how happy they are to help me LOL
I think they will all have a singing career. We made our favorite cookies tonight. Nut Crescents. Then I did the cut outs. I have another ball of dough for the cutouts and 3 more balls for the nut crescents. YUMMY. Grandson wants some Molasses cutout cookies and i would like some Oatmeal raisin ones. The chocolate cake cookies are delicious!! I will take a picture of the chocolate Gooey Butter cookies tomorrow and post them they are so good!! Merry Christmas to you all and GOD bless each of you . Here is the directions to make a tree pin. It is adapted from the folded tree napkin.
First make a half cicrle template in the size you want.
I made this one 5 inches wide and 2 1/2" tall. green front and print white back
Layer two contrasting fabrics rightsides together. Use your template,trace around it, then sew all around leaving a small opening on the straight edge to turn rightside out.

Now fold the two sides into the middle but off center on the bigger side. then will look like this

Fold that in half and press good ,sew a small button on the top and an pin back on the back side just catching the inside of the top layer so no stitching shows through Share your pictures if you make any of them. The Christmas Party

Had a party last evening . It was my local Quilt Guild in Wooster Ohio. I think it was the best thus far of the ones I have attended. I had made cookies to give as a desert. I made squares and iced them in half square triangles. I took a table and board to lay them on and they became a pinwheel quilt laid out. Besides they tasted very good. I got to my seat and the favors were a nice little folded tree pin, some candy cane candy , Andes mint, a pair of scissors, and a nice stiletto. I had been member at large this year and the President gave a small thank you gift. It was a neat small bag looks like an Apple but has a nice tote bag inside it. Great I love bags!! Then we chatted and ate our dinner. After dinner we gave the president her quilt and then announced the quilter of the year. Ruth Bishop was given that award and she does so much for our guild she deserved it. They gave her a thimble cage necklace sterling silver. She cried and thanked all for the honors. They did the challenge and I came in 3 rd place so I received the little folding tote with goodies in it for the prize. Then came the Christmas box swap. That is what you see spread out, an item for each letter in the word Christmas. Good things in my box. After the box swapping was finished up we did a singing of Christmas carols only there was a hitch to that. We, each table had to pick a Christmas song and change the words to pertain to quilting and sewing. Man you should have heard the great songs. I am amazed at the talent we have in this group of gals and gents. I think Sally is going to give everyone a copy of the songs soon . I truly enjoyed my evening out with the guild!! WOO HOO I am finished with the gift box quilt. It is so very pretty . I just love those fabrics and the colors and it turned out great! here have a look at it. Guess Who and New table topper

Well sewed yesterday and today . I did manage to get the binding on finally on the table topper. I recommend single binding for these shapes. I also have the binding on my gift box quilt just need to sew it down on the back side. Son sent a couple photo's of grand daughter. she is growing too fast. check her out she is having some fun and I am sure going to be told no no. ha ha!

Some Family Time and sewing

Hi All, had a good day yesterday was fun because of my sisters. five of us were able to come together and have a lunch and short visit. One had come up to Ohio to get her MIL . We then called the one in Michigan and she drove down while the other 3 of us live in the area. We ate at the Lynway and enjoyed some of their pies. mm Buckeye is delicious. My daughter and her friend were able to come and eat with us. was a good day in outr neighborhood!!

I came home and decided to sew some. I cut out two pillows and then sewed them and quilted them out today. The pillows are fin ished. I like them alot!! They are in the magazine Celebrating Quilting by Fon's and Porter publishing. Great magaazine if you see it you should buy it. There is so much in this issue you will not be disappointed. I will now post a couple pictures one of my sisters and I and the other of the pillows.

I have made and finished the blue baby quilt. I just finished sewing the binding down this morning I started sewing it down last evening and had about 26 inches to do and said tomorrow is another day. SO It is ready for giving.
Her is a picture of the front and the back I did all the quilting and am happy with it.

Halloween over

Well the scary days are gone and we had a good turn out for treats. I live in the country and we had farm wagons pulled by tractors to take the neighborhood kids around to houses that wanted to participate. My great grandson came over and he had a grand time. There were two wagon loads counting the grown ups.
So after the trick or treating they went to the home of the family that had organized it and had some drinks and I think donuts. that was so nice and safer for all the kids, it was from 1-3 PM sunshine and all.
So I have been sewing again and trying to finish up a few more things. One is a baby quilt the pretty blue one and then the fall twister topper and last but far from the least is the Christmas hexagon star. I get to quilt them out starting tomorrow and have the baby quilt done first. I am pleased with them all.

I have more to do and then the ones I really want to make, I just want to get these 3 quilted and bound for now. I have a pattern by Sandy Gervais named "Done" that I want to make and have hanging on my wall for the holidays too. My gift boxes quilt top should be back her in a week or so. Then it is time to make the binding and add it to that pretty thing!That one will hang in our front hallway as we enter the house.
Next week I put the pumpkin wall quilt up until Thanksgiving is over.What is you favorite quilt to hang? Thanks for coming by and seeing me again today. I love company

Well been sewing on a Christmas quilt. It is made with Flurry by Kate Spain from Moda. I love the fabrics. They are so bright and happy and make you feel good when you see them. Anyway I saw a completed quilt top at a QS in Lyndhurst called JEllen's Fabric Shop. She has the cutest place and so inviting . if you are ever in the Lyndjurst area I recommend you to stop by her place. I had to buy the fabrics and make muyself one . I still like it and plan to have it done and on my wall for Christmas. Here is a photo of the one I am making. a fun one to sew as well.

Look how cute she is . This is Arsema she is soon to be 7 months old. I can't believe how fast she is growing.

Today was a busy day I took off from de-cluttering and went with a couple friends of mine. We went to see Cindy's new shop then onto the other new shop.Somewhere Sewing, from there we went to lunch and then on to Mrs. Millers. I had a great day . The weather was perfect and the shops are terrific. Cindy's is really bright and cheerful. I am so happy for her I think she will do really well. If you get the chance to go visit her and shop it is worth your time energy.

De cluttering

Well it is that time of year once again. Where you go through your stuff and try to remove some of it. I am in that mode for now. Have been going through boxes of saved things and am sorting and will give some to friends and then some will be burned and some will be donated and then that still leaves me a plenty. So will do the go though and then do it a second time. Once I am satisfied with what I have chosen to keep then it is time to find a home for it all. A place to house it and be able to find when I want it.The end results are always so very nice. I hope to get through a few more totes today. I am happy so far. I am off now to get back to the job at hand have a great day everyone!

Old Timey cook book

Today I bought an old Timey cook book and have been reading through some of the recipes. this is a good one maybe even for this day and age! Named
Leatherbritches Beans

wash and drain a batch of firm green beans Remove the ends and the strings. Use a large darning needle with heavy white thread and thread through the pod near the middle pushing them along the thread so they are 1/4 inch apart. Hang up the strings of beans in a warm well ventilated place to dry. They will shrivel and turn greenish gray. To cook in the winter time as the pioneers did ,cover with water and soak overnight.

Drain, renew the water and parboil slowly for 1/2 hours.

Drain again cook slowly with ham hock or salt pork until tender

Serve with Cornbread!!!

Next one I plan to try is this

Keepsake Biscut

1 quart milk or cream

1 1/2 cups of butter or lard

2 Tablespoons white sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 Teaspoon cream of tartar

Enough flour to make a stiff dough.

Knead well and mold into neat small biscuts with your hands. Bake well and you have a good sweet biscut that will keep for weeks in a dry place. They are fine for a traveling lunch!!

Company's Coming

I am very lucky , I have 2 Scottish Ladies coming to stay with me for 2 weeks. They are friends of mine and have come over every 2 years for the last 6 years. They are the best house guests. I am so anxious for them to get here. Been working on a few things for us all so today I and hubby went out to see what they had for flowers and I bought some beautiful MUMS, then found a new chair cushion I wanted earlier in the summer. Wanted to get a chair pad for the large chair I have on the front porch for hubby to sit in . His is pretty faded and worn so maybe the store in a town south or north of us have one to match it, the new cushion. I am looking. Here is a couple pictures of the front porch where we will spend some time maybe hand sewing .

I was able to get this small table topper made and finished over the last 2 days . I really like it it is fresh and happy to me.

Cooking today

Today I am testing recipes for the retreat I am hosting in September. I have a small yahoo group and we are gathering in Loudenville for the 3rd time.Two our gals fly over from Scotland they are super lady's. It is always fun to visit and see each one. We are having a teacher come in this to teach us a class. It is Edith Dyke of Toledo Ohio. Her class names are so different like the one we are doing is named" You Want Me To Make a What??"

That is going to be so fun and we are all looking forward to it. We are providing our food so I am testing the cooking of it today. It smells so good "Baked French Toast". Along with some fresh fruit medley and drinks.
We will also have for another breakfast a type veggie egg omelet only done in muffins pan. Served with bagels and homemade jam and sausage links or bacon strips. Orange juice , coffee, tea ,or whatever you like.
The last one is Baked Oatmeal it will be served with Cinnamon bread and the usual drinks and fruit slices. I know none of us will be hungry!

We are going to be together from Wednesday through Sunday. What a week it will be.We have our class on Thursday and shop day on Saturday. I am so ready to go mentally but not packed yet!! A couple pictures of the dish I made .

I have been able to catch a few minutes to do some sewing. Feels good, and I am enjoying it. I have layered and cut backings for 3 small things . I have one completely finished.My Pumpkins. The designs are from Bird Brain Designs Then today I came across a lemon table runner I had started a few years back so I layered it and quilted it out and am now applying the binding. Turned out pretty nice. I will post the photos of them all in a few I first have to take them LOL. I have the twister table runner ready to layer as well. I like it too. There is plenty for me to sew on and yet I have a hankering to start another new project. One for Christmas I would really like to get it made and have it hanging on my entry way wall. If I do you will be the first to see it. hehe I have purchased the whole line by Kate Spain called Flurry. I plan to make the gift box quilt that is a free pattern on United Notions web site.

It is such a happy quilt to me. Stay in touch to see my hand works soon.

Great Grandson

Hi have had the great grandson over and it was late this night I told him to go upstairs and get in bed. Well I thought he had obeyed and when I was headed up myself this is what I saw. He is such a ham and fun most of the time. He is 5 years old.

Then I also managed to stitch this up. It is a free pattern from Bird Brain Designs. I am now working on the one for July last summer. But hey I am at least getting to it. LOL I am stitching them on the osnaburg fabric and am using product by Solvy called Sticky Fabri-Solvy. It comes in 8 1/2 x 11 sheets to use in the printer. Works great to me. I have not seen it in Joann's or other but did get a local quilt shop to order it in. If you do any embroidery you may want to try it as well.

Busy week

Well we lost a brother in law this past Sunday. He was a very gentle man and well liked. Bill you are missed already. I have a great neice getting married this coming Sat. and today is calling hours for Bill . Tomorrow he will be laid to rest. One of our sisters drove up from NC and I will be seeing her tonight. On a happier note I went to our guild picnic and had a good time. they had some good games and I won one of them.A word scramble, then I played one because they asked for a couple volunteers and I was told do it. Well it was stacking cups and talking them down. I lost here is a picture of me and the cups the gal in the second photo won. Her name is Laura was fun .

Well been a few days or weeks since I last posted here. It has been hot here in Ohio and thundery too. Had a lot of food to make and picnics to attend. I have a wedding and then a graduation party just a week ahead of that. After that I have to get ready for some important company coming to . My ladies from Scotland are coming September 1st and stay with us for 2 weeks. I love to have them !!

Oh and this coming Monday is our annual quilt guild picnic I have to have a table runner made for the challenge and then a dish to share as well. That is always a fun time for me.

I bought 4 books this past month, two are by Nancy Halverson, "Count On It" and then the "Calender and Stitchery". The other is "Scrap Basket" and one more"Strip-Smart Quilts" that requires a special ruler, so I am in for some serious sewing soon. I am going to be the host for a quilt retreat in September and need to get my block made for the pre-required sewing.

Oldest grandson came home for the holiday . Rode his motorcycle from PA. to OH. about and 8 hour ride one way. Sure was nice to see him and he is making his way into the work force. Going to school to be a cycle repairman. I am so proud of him. He is finally becoming his own person. Way to go Bryan!!

Today I will be going to the 2 quilt shops in this area. I am so looking forward to going. I did get to go visit my friend MaryAnn, but our visit was cut short. While we were out gettting a few things from the grocery one of her dogs decided to fight with one of the others.It got hurt pretty bad. So to find out Margarita has a broken a jaw. So she is spending some time in the hospital. She is such a tiny thing and about 10 yrs. old Mary said. I really felt sorry for the dog and for Mary. Prior to that we managed to sew a small bag from a blog named www.kellyrachel.com
She is the one did the quilt along with the tote bag and

Very Busy Few Days

Well,have been very busy and happy too. Have had the kitchen and our 1/2 bath repapered. They look wonderful. Love the colors and am so anxious to get the new curtains made for the windows. My time is running a tad short. On May 30th I get to fly to Washington state and meet my new grand daughter for the first time. I am so thrilled to be going. She was born on March 14th and will turn 3 months while I am there.!! Can't believe it she is growing way too fast.I think she will be at a good age to be able to reach and begin to play a little bit. Such a sweetie she is.

I am going to post a few photo's of the new paper and let you see why I am so happy! Last year I bought some Hazel Atlas dishes and they will go great with the new paper Had not thought about until yesterday They are yummy together. Without futher ado here are the photos. Well my new grand daughter is chatting with daddy a little bit this morning. I am so tickled to be going out to spend some time with them all. Here is her talking to daddy so cute. love how she leads him on then does what he wants. Haha
Wanted to say my hubby is doing great on the Jeorge Cruise eating plan. He has had trouble off and on with esophagus and the Dr. told him to get this book and it would be his bible for the next month. He is doing well. has lost about 12-13 lbs and now waist has lost a total of 5 inches. fantastic!! way to go Charlie my dear. Love you!!

Hello I have finally finished this heart quilt it turned out really cute.I am really pleased with it.. Had a guild meeting on Monday and the man who I had do the quilting had it done gave it back to me . I was thrilled and I went to work on the binding right away. I got the pattern from the blog "A Little Bit Biased".

She had done it for the MBS named "Candy Hearts" and I was hooked."

I am now going to concentrate on the kitchen to have it ready for the paper hanger on Monday.

Happy Mother's Day

This is a tough time for me most years, I just wish I had my mother to share it with. But I do not. What a lovely lady she was. Sometimes it is hard to read to the cards and I cry ,but I too am a mother and grandmother. and a great grandmother. I see my Mom's picture and my Dad's on my staircase wall each day. I also see my hubby's mother and father. I say hello to them most mornings as I pass down the stairs.What great parents they all were. My mom had a favorite song it was by Patsy Cline "Walking After Midnight". I had it on the page ,When I had a page on Geo Cities I had a tribute to her and all the deceased loved ones in my family I miss each and everyone of them, but Mothers are very special people! Tomorrow is a special day for all Mothers and I wish each of you the best day you can have. May you receive all the love that you can on this special day. I will post a picture of My mom and MIL tomorrow morning.

Doing some updating

Spent the afternoon yesterday looking at wall papers for our kitchen and some for the 1/2 bath.

I think I have settled on a couple. Here is what I think we will be putting up in our kitchen and eating area. I think the white with the small leaf sprigs will be on the upper 2/3rds and the plaid will be along the bottom the plaid will also go under my cabinets and behind the stove and fridge the tiny white leaf will be on the soffit. My border will be as you see in the old just under the windows. I have 4 windows and they are back to back in the corners. Wondering now what type of window treatment I want do, you have any ideas for me? Thanks for checking in on me today.

This is my easter small quilt . I bought the pattern and fabric kit along with the hanger I had to get it made I love the colors of it. Makes me feel good .

Well been busy on the sewing machine this past week. Have had some company, watched a few grand kids, did some shopping and I had to time to listen to Pat Sloan radio talk show. I won a charm pack should arrive sometime next week. But My new grand baby is not sleeping too well for mom and dad and they are very tired. Do you remember those nights? I sure do. How I longed for an all night sleep. I do have a lot of sympathy for them, daddy works 12 hour shifts 6-7 days a week. so you know he is tired. But mom needs a break too, so they try to make it work. I plan on going out very soon. Her sister is coming for a week around the 15th of this month, I will go out there after she leaves . I am in Ohio and they are in Washington state. Maybe I can help them and they both can sleep the night through. I got a couple items made and they were so fun to work on I couldn't stop until they were finished. Trust me I have lot of UFOs lying around.Here are the photos of the things \I have made the last few days.

These photos of Mommy while PG were done by a studio. I think they are beautiful. Very tastefully done.But the most beautiful one is the Grand daughter Arsema. She is so sweet. I will be going to visit her soon . Want to hold her and love on her. Hope she is content with me.

Was a cooking day for me . I just came out of the kitchen. Had made some yummy Sea Shell macaroni salad and then the fresh strawberry pie. We had some good chili beans in the freezer so will have them too. not sure on the meat yet. Might be some Black Forest ham sliced.

I am going to get a shower next then sew for a little while and then have some of the good eats.

A New Tip or 2

Had a guild meeting on Monday evening. Mary Lou Nuzum was our speaker. She gave us tip on our pressing and how you tend to burn your finger sometimes while doing that. Well there is a glove out that beauticians use for when they curl hair or straighten it. It is made from a special fabric to resist heat. I will post a photo of it. Another use for this Glove is when you are preparing the pieces for Applique if you use the starch method! Great

I bought mine at the local beauty supply house. Called Sally's. I have yet another tip for you I get those bags you can put your wet umbrella in at the stores and then I store my wonder under in it. I believe it also will fit a bolt of fabric in it. So That is how I store my fusible web stuff. Pick yourself up an extra one next time you go to the grocery or Wal Mart and use it.

I am here been busy and now waiting to hear of the new Grand daughter. DIL and son took her to the hospital to have the labor induced this afternoon. I am sure my Hiwot is a bit scared. I know how scared I was . My mom was in another state and I was alone. Hubby was there but then they did not allow any one in the room it was on a military base. I just hated to be there by myself in that room. So I have been busy at the machine and doing some daily chores around the house. Shopping to by the way.
Here is a couple things I have been sewing on.

I had been wanting to try the new Twister Rule and this is what I made it the one they call "Lil Twister". I call my item Orange punch I loved the orange border fabric and therefore used the orange to make pinwheels with the twister. I love that twister rule. I will be back tomorrow or later on today and post more waiting on the baby and am going to catch some sleep while I wait for her arrival!!.

The quilt below still needs one more border sewn on. Maybe tomorrow. This is called Kesteria from the Quilt Bus we site. Our guild got permission to use it for a BOM and I like the overall look of it. The sample was done in red and green . Niters now chat more later on today!!!

A Finish

Well I have been sewing most of the day. I have finished the baby boy quilt and sewn together my blocks for the guild quilt. I have also sewn some on my arrowhead blocks. I hope tomorrow to finish up those blocks. I want to set them together. We have been sick here in the Hall household over the last couple weeks. I am almost back to normal. Mine was a head cold and hubby had a bout of the diverticulitis.
Ouch for him! Had to take to the ER and we wound up spending 9 hrs there. But he is worth it and much more. He has been on antibiotics for the last 9 days or so. I had to take some for a week . We are in for some freezing rain and or snow tomorrow night while we sleep! Just got dug out from about 8 -9 inches yesterday! Snowy February here in Ohio wanted to share this finish with you. I made it for a friends son. I know he is going to love it. Now to get myself busy on my new grand daughter coming very soon My little Arsema Etshena means beautiful not sure on the middle name Going to love her. That is it for this time I am so very tired and need some major beauty sleep.

Hi and love to you all. Thanks for stopping by today. Was a busy week for me. Spent my afternoon at the Er yesterday with hubby. He is suffereing with diverticultius it seems. I know he was hurting pretty good.. They did a barrage of tests and blood work and a cat scan . So he has drugs and will change his eating habits now I do believe.
I had a class on Saturday making a block called Arrowhead. It was in the Quiltmaker mag from the Sept./Oct issue. The block and her technique are so much fun and very easy!! I love the fabric I have chosen for my quilt. That in itself helps to enjoy the class and making of the quilt. It is line from a year or so ago called Avairy by Three Sisters from Moda. Very soft and peaceful colors. Here is the fabirc before cutting them I chose a beige or creamy background

I want to get back to sewing on it. I think I will love this one. Anyway I am very pleased with it.

I will try to get backand post more often than as of late. Happy in Love Day to you all!!!

I did sew this Octopus for our new grand daughter to arrive very soon. Like March 7th.

Hi All been a few busy weeks for me. Not getting a lot done.So had not come on line to post. I did do a couple blog tours. I must say that is my last of them . I am going to spend my time on line wiser. LOL I know there is only a winner from a few hundred. But it just seems like they are in the clicks like old high school days. Not to offend any one. I just feel like you have to be in their group in order to be drawn. Kind like paying the neighbor kid to like you don't you think? I am straight forward with people I meet and treat them the same.Good luck to all the blog hoppers and their tours happy days ahead for me.

I am just done with BLOG tours and try to win a gift.

So on to more fun things I did manage to get a wall hanging sewn so cute I have not worked in my homespun in some time. Felt good to play in them. I want to make a new quilt for a guest bed. the one that is on it is wearing out. So I want to remake one just like it only maybe a few different fabrics. It is called Country Seams quilt. I will post a picture of the oneI have made . I think it is still on my web shots pages.

Everyone has loved it. Very primitive looking.

I had a birthday yesterday and I was given a new pair of diamond ear rings from my hubby.They go nicely with the necklace he gave to me a few years back. My daughter and her kids came over baked a cake for me and we celebrated with food and the great cake she baked here for me. They gave me nice and meaningful cards with tender words of love in it. they each signed it for me.Daughter gave a couple lottery tickets. I won 10 dollars on them. We are getting a some snow and colder temps tonight. I will see what I can do tomorrow in my sewing area. So for now I have rambled on long enough. I Have been working on a quilt top called Summer Porch by "Quilt In A Day" company. I have all the blocks sewn and need to get them in the correct position. You know so they are not too heavy on one side or the other, color balance. My two strongest colors in this is the salmon and the browns. So placement will make or brake it. Here is the blocks not in correct order just pinned on the wall to decide what to do and where to move them. I do like the quilt. Tomorrow is a sew day for me. woohoo!!! I have some of the sashing strips attached and will add them completely around each triangle and then there is a nice rectangle border with the same sashing it is a very pretty quilt.
Okay any suggestions I will take seriously and get this done I hope tomorrow. Thanks have a great night Patty

Well the day and we had a grand time with my kids and their kids. The presents were opened late. Some of the grand kids spent the night and we waited on their Mom and dad to arrive before they opened anyhting major. That was a fun time. The great grandson Blaze has a way with the words. He is fun and can be a cantankerous. HA!! Today I have been cleaning up my sewing area and maybe going to sew a little bit tonight. I plan to go shopping tomorrow with a dear friend. Then on Tuesday I get a hairdo. It is short now and I might not get much cut off . Baby it's cold outside!! I have several stitcheries I would like to get done this year! I hope to get them started and finished. I got a new PINK tool pouch from daughter. Seems i can never find the hammer hubby got for me so she found this pink set of tools and gave to me for Christmas how sweet. I hope the guys in my life will not want to use the pink hammer hahaha
I will be right back my coffee is done and I am thirsty! UMMM it tastes good. A tad chilly here and some snow flurries today. 23* out now. We are suppose to have a warm up in the 40's next week wahoo
Our eldest son and his new bride did not make to Ohio for this year maybe next. next year their daughter who is due to arrive into this world on March 7th will be about 9 months old this time next year. Wow that is something. I have some new baby things to send to them i have made some of those adorable shoes and a couple bibs from the Moda recipe. Lost and Found

I am in heaven!! I had misplaced my Bright light since attending the retreat in Ripley W.V. I was searching everyday. Cleaned some of the sewing area as I was looking. Well tonight or early morning I came across it where I had looked many times!!! In a rolling tote inside my Omni drink bag well protected!! I had wrapped it and stuck it inside the box that has my Bed Risers. In there I also found some Iron Cleaner and the cloths for that. woohoo!!!!!!!!!! clicking my heels if only I could jump high enough.First thing out of my mouth when I seen it was THANK YOU JESUS!!!! praises to him for the find!
I am off to get some much needed sleep. I will be tired tomorrow. NITERS!!

Since daughter had a house fire, we have been watching her puppy. The puppy is named Tinkerbell. Hubby hates to have to go and call her in. Thinks he sounds dumb calling Tinkerbell. I said call her Tink and he replied more like Tasmanian Devil. She is a live wire and loves to chase behind you grabbing at your leg and then chases the big dog Buster who by the way growls and shows his teeth at her at least a 100 times a day. She does not back down. Brave little girl she was she even crawled into his cage.WOW!!! so today after sh had been outside for a few minutes romping in the snow and chasing the birds up the tree . She came with a charge and started to go in circles trying to catch her tail so funny here is a movie clip of her. Have a great day everyone O am off to do some sewing.

It is getting colder and colder it seems and it should be according to the calendar.

It is December after all.Today is clean the kitchen and rearrange the table back over by the overheadlight.

We usually move it to accommodate the family for dinner on Thanksgiving day and other majorholidays.

So today I get the honor of moving it back and I might put up my small skinny tree in the TV room I like having one there.

I will use colored lights for it and all the handmade ornaments I have received over the years.

They are some very special ones . I have done quite a few swaps for ornaments.

Here is a couple pictures of the kids who came today in my neighborhood. The one family organised a hay ride and took all of them around the neighborhood to the houses that wanted

to participate. We gave them candy and they had a good time. When the gathering of the

candy was done then they all went back to the people and had hot dogs and roasted marshmellows what a great idea for alll involved. I am so happy to have been a part of it.

My Retreat

Well I had a good time and many new friends. Ate too much and even walked alot. The grounds are beautiful. The fall leaves and setting spectacular. There was a herd of deer that came through on Tuesday about 8 of them. I took 2 classes. One with Debby Lee Machine quilting on your domestic machine. Learned a lot hope to be able to practice so I can actually quilt out a few things of mine. The second one was a class with Lorraine Covington,Buds In A Basket from a book Bouquet Of Quilts.

In that class we learned the circle using Karen Kay Buckley circles and then freezer paper applique and how to piece curves. Below is a few photos of the few things I did. The orange basket block is the one we did for the learning. the bottom 2 are of the quilting class may be hard to see we were to sew in our name not an easy task !! my P looks like an R but hey I will master soon LOL It was fun to do and plan to do a lot of practicing in the near future. If you ever get a chance to go to a retreat I say go a great experience.

New used carpet

here is a picture of the new used carpet I got for my sewing area. I am pleased with it. I had to move all the stuff out and sweep and remove cobwebs and such. But it is looking good now!! I have the other side to work on tomorrow. It is a disaster for sure. A friend gave this me she got new stuff for her home. Sorting Floss

Well a while back I had purchased some floss at the local Goodwill store. I had to sort it and put it in some order so I could find what I need. It is so pretty to view now and this was fun but time consuming too.I used the LoRan project cards and I punched holes so they would fit in the binder. I then purchased some clear sleeves that open on the sides and slipped them in to them. Here is the colors I have done thus far. I still have the browns and reds into pinks to sort and put in the sleeves. Below is some photos of the floss . And how do you store your floss, what is your favorite way to organize it?

Our DIL has gone and arrived home safely. She was a fun week, even with her morning sickness. Oh I remember those days with my first baby,her hubby Jeff. We took her to Cedar Point for the day with our daughter Shelly (Michelle). It was Shelly's birthday . We had a picnic lunch there and rode some rides easy ones so as not to jolt Hiwot and the baby. Oh Yeah and took to Amish country where she took a buggy ride and saw another person from her home country what are the odds of that one?

Was going to have a baby shower for her but decided to wait..I had family over for a meet and visit and with us . Some could not come but we still had a grand time. I will now post some of the photos thanks for checking us all out .

I have been sewing this with my local quilt guild. It was a mystery. I am very happy with it. I should have smoothed it out more but you get the idea. a few wrinkles is okay. It is because I did not really straighten things out.

The fabrics are Moda a mish mash of lines but they go together very well. Left overs from other projects.

Here is hubby holding the newest addition to the clan. I bought peaches today! They sure do smell good I have tasted them and they are very yummy. Maybe tomorrow I will make a batch of peach jam and then make a pie or cobbler. They are the same kind I made jam with last year.Contenders from S.Carolina. very good. I have the GGS here tonight and tomorrow I am sure he will want to help me with them. He is 4 yrs. old and very active.His name is Blaze. Well I am off here for tonight he will be up at the crack dawn. so good night all chat tomorrow

A Great deal

Today I went to the Goodwill. I had been to the store just 2 days prior and seen some floss. So this morning I called to see how much they would take for all of it. I bought all of it for 10 dollars I am thrilled. I am doing some embroidery and did not want to invest a ton $ into it in case i did not like it. Well this will make it much easier. I counted the small floss baggies with at least one some had 3 and 4 in them and the total bags were 240. I am so happy!

My neighbor bought a small bird feeder and water bowl to put in the yard for the birds. It is so cute. I have to have one or make one. I will take a picture of hers and post it for all of you to see . The birds can eat and drink at the same place. How cool is that for them?

Our Guild Picnic

Had our annual picnic tonight. What a great time we all had.I do think everyone enjoyed it. We had great food and played some real fun games. Besides we did a PCP paint chip surprise. We had 25 people take part in it. That is a great turn out for any project!We had a fat quarter toss. Where you brought a fat quarter and we rolled them with a rubber band then tried to toss them into a 5 gallon bucket. If yours went in you won the fat quarters in it. if you missed you put yours in the bucket. The ladies and gents had fun trying to get theirs in. a couple of good winners.Then we had a word search

game on a timer and they won prizes for that. We also played a game of Quilto. using fabric cards. they enjoyed that one as well. Had them vote for their favorite PCP and no 23 took those honors. I had a fun time and enjoyed the festivities. I even won one of the center pieces. But here is the PCP that I received . Mine was from Jeri Fickes. Love the colors and will be nice in my kitchen

Looking at the picture is my hubby Charlie, Diane, Dave, and Bob. There was another Dennis but he left before we could get the picture . that is just a small ampling of those that attened.

We have just returned from our picnic and gathering with friends. Man what good food. It was wonderful and lots of people . The pool was full and the kids were having fun in the water.Which give the parents time to chat some. There was corn hole, soccer, and other games top play. Sweet drinks and some new ones One was Creamsickle like the old ice cream bar. Tasted the same too, Then had some margaritas and pop beer water tea. Most everyone was drinking water by the end of the eating. Lots of fresh fruit and sweet cake and brownies. I enjoyed my visit and am always glad to return home. Now it is time to put my feet up and maybe do some hand embroidery this evening on my front porch!

Celebrating the Holiday

We are celebrating this holiday with a few of our friends. Hubby worked with her hubby before retiring. We are going to go a for a great picnic and share some memories. No I am not wearing red white and blue. I am instead wearing this. It is a nice deep maroon and white Capri's. I finally got a haircut about 9 days ago and am pleased with it so far.
We are taking a grape salad to share as our pot luck dish . Happy fourth to you one and all And thank you Veterans for all you do and have done you are much appreciated!!!

I really like the dishes I found a few weeks back and today I found some glasses that go very nicely with them I really like the size of the glass. Perfect. I got a set of 8 glasses.Oh I still need to find the yellow cup I will continue to search. and hopefully find locally!

Well My neighbor and good friend gave me this neat item! I think it would look great appliqued onto a towel I love it. The little oblong thing is for a thimble and it needs to be finished yet. needs a tassel and draw string.

I have been so hot the past couple days. The humidity is terrible. I have not sewn on the machine. I have been trying to learn crochet. I am using the fine thread like for tatting size 8 cotton Perle. The needle hook size is to be a size 14. That is like smaller then the head on a straight pin. I am doing it. I have to practice and be able to count my chains and etc. so it will take me some time But I am determined to get it.I saw a thimble holder on the Internet that was crocheted and wanted one .LOL I want everything . If I get it made I will for sure post a picture of it. Am very tired from the heat so will retire for tonight and check in tomorrow with you all see you then

It's that time of year

I went berry picking today . My gosh I should have gone early this morning. I went in the heat of the afternoon . The temp was 85*.What was I thinking?! I picked 4 quart and have canned up a batch of the jam. They sure are good tasting this year My friend Anna wan't to come over and do the peaches with me when they are ready . we will do them in in August I believe. She said have to do them in bra's too hot LOL

I have air conditioner so Anna you can leave your top on

I have had a good day today thanks coming to visit me. The last two quarts are for freezer jam for hubby!

A done Runner

This is cool and I am pleased with the end results. This had sit around for about a year. I decided to finish it. It was pretty easy over all. From the magazine Quilts and More summer 2008. I need to get busy on a few other things which need to be completed real soon. I am trying my hand at some embroidery and finding I need practice to get the stitches even. that will come with time and by doing. I will share the picture of the top now and then one more of my cat Buttons taken the day before she passed away.

My Ms Buttons had to be put to sleep. She was so miserable and there was not anything we could to make it any easier for her. So may she rest in Peace now!! I will truely miss her as she was my pal. Slept at the foot of my bed every night my calf was her pillow. and parked herself at my feet most every eveneing. Okay I need to greive some so will sign off and come back in a couple days. Thanks everybod for all the well wished for her. they were helpful to me for sure
